Photoreactions are atom-economic and efficient approaches to synthesize structurally diversified molecules. The photoreactions explored in our group include the cascade reactions of carbonyl groups with various electron donors, visible light catalyzed reactions etc. (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2015, 54, 4055; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2013, 52, 13289). Moreover, since light control allows manipulation of biomolecules in a spatiotemporal manner, it is also of interest for us to develop or use novel biocompatible photoreactions for different chemical biological studies. With the combination of photoreactions with active small molecules, peptides or oligonucleotides, we are now trying to develop diverse multi-functional probes that can target microRNAs or proteases for related chemical-biological studies (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2016, 138, 15943; Chem. Commun. 2016, 52, 2342). |
