Dr. Zhen Liu has been a Distinguished Professor of Nanjing University since 2014. He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2014. He obtained his Ph.D. from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998. He was appointed as a full professor at Nanjing University in 2005. He was awarded the title “New Century Excellent Talents in Universities” by the Ministry of Education of China in 2008. He was selected as “Excellent Young Leading Faculty” by Nanjing University in 2009. He was appointed as an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Waterloo from 2011 to 2014. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a Senior Member of the Chinese Chemical Society and a Member of American Chemical Society. He is an associate editor of Analytical Methods and an advisory board member of Analytica Chimica Acta, Electrophoresis, Separation Science Plus, Chinese Science Bulletin, Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry, Chinese Journal of Mass Spectrometry, and Chinese Journal of Chromatography. He also serves as an executive council member of Chinese Mass Spectrometry Society, a board member of the Society for Molecular Imprinting, as well as a member of the academic committee of the Branch of Mass Spectrometry, Chinese Chemical Society, and the academic committee of the Branch of Proteomics, the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. His research interests include molecular recognition, affinity separation, disease diagnosis, single cell analysis, and cancer nanotherapy. His research has been supported by more than 20 national class grants such as Major Scientific Instrumentation Grant and Key Grant from National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC). He has authored and co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed papers, with a series of papers published in prestigious journals, such as, Chemical Society Reviews, Accounts of Chemical Research, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Nature Protocols, Advanced Science, ACS Nano and Chemical Science. His current h-index is 58. He has authored and co-authored 2 books and 7 book chapters. He holds 18 authorized patents. He was awarded the Science & Technology Award (First Class) by China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA) in 2011 and 2017. In 2016, he was awarded the Humanity in Science Award (Silver Recognition) by Phenomenex & Analytical Scientist. In 2020, he was awarded the Advances in Measurement Science Lectureship by the American Chemical Society (ACS).
