Invited by the discipline of organic Chemistry, Professor Wanbin Zhang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University visited Nanjing on May 26 and gave an academic report on May 27. Since 2003, Professor Zhang has been employed by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a professor and doctoral supervisor, and has presided over and participated in a number of key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and major scientific and technological projects of Major New Drug Innovation. At 15:00 on May 27th, Professor Wanbin Zhang gave a postgraduate special report entitled The Development of Chiral Catalysts and their Application in drug synthesis in Lecture Hall H201 of Xianlin Chemistry Building. Professor Wanbin Zhang patiently introduced his work and achievements in the development and synthesis of chiral catalysts. He repeatedly emphasized the importance of chiral catalysts in the whole chemical process, and illustrated the impact of excellent catalysts on the chemical industry and the market with examples. Among them, Professor Wanbin Zhang developed the synthesis route of artemisinin with chiral catalysts, which left a deep impression on everyone.
