At the invitation of Professor Wang leyong, as part of his trip to China, Professor Stephen J. Loeb of the University of Windsor, Canada visited Nanjing University and the research group on October 24. Professor Loeb is an internationally renowned supramolecular chemistry and materials scientist. He is also Canada Research Chair in Supramolecular Chemistry & functional materials, fellow of Royal Society of chemistry and fellow of Chemical Institute of Canada( http://www1.uwindsor.ca/people/loeb/ ) On the afternoon of 24th, Professor Loeb visited the State Key Laboratory of coordination of Nanjing University and communicated with Professor Bai Junfeng. During the visit, he exchanged scientific research work with the members of the research group, Professor Wang leyong, Dr. Hu Xiaoyu, doctoral students Liu Li, Xiao tangxin, Ni Mengfei and Xia Wei. On the 26th, Professor Stephen J. Loeb was invited to attend the 2013 graduate academic exchange conference of organic chemistry of Nanjing University held in Daji resort, and used the opportunity of wall newspaper to communicate with the scientific research work of the students in the research group. Qian Xiaohong and Feng Xiaoqing introduced their research work. On the 27th, Professor Stephen J. Loeb, as a special guest of the conference, made a special report entitled organizing mechanically interlocked molecules to function inside metal orange frameworks, which gave teachers and students unique insights on their supramolecular chemistry and broadened the thinking of all members. His research spans the fields of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and material chemistry. His research group has made outstanding achievements in the synthesis of rotaxane and the successful introduction of rotaxane system into MOF system. During the visit, Professor Stephen J. Loeb, accompanied by Liu Yuanyuan and Xiong Shuhan, visited Nanjing Zijin Mountain and Xuanwu Lake.
